Some legends of the beautiful game will converge at Jalan Besar Stadium as 10 teams take to the field in the Masters tournament. Group A is stacked with Premier League pedigree with Leicester City Masters headlining the pool and bringing with them legends including Wes Morgan, Marc Albrighton and Danny Drinkwater, who guided the English club to the historic league title in 2015/16. But they will face some serious competition with Corinthians Masters, carrying the proud tradition of one of Brazil’s most famous sides, among their challengers. There will also be Indonesian flavour in the category in the form of PERSIB Masters, representing one of the most passionately supported clubs in the world. The local presence will also be strong with Real Singapura FC and COSMO Masters – two outfits featuring seasoned players from two of the most prestigious leagues in Singapore – looking to thrill the supporters in Group A. Group B, meanwhile, has several eye-catching names from Europe. The East London All Stars team, featuring former Premier League stars like James Collins, Paul Konchesky and Marlon Harewood, will look to roll back the years in Singapore. They are joined by Borussia Dortmund, boasting names like Roman Weidenfeller and Kevin Großkreutz, who were part of their hugely successful side during early 2010s, while Forest Reds, a team consisting of former Nottingham Forest stars, is another English addition. Fans in Singapore will also get the chance to witness some yesteryear favourites as national team legends Shahril Ishak, Daniel Bennett and Lionel Lewis will wear the Singapore FC Masters jersey while Singa Legends will feature the likes of Aleksandar Duric and Aide Iskandar. With only two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals, every game will be high stakes for these masters of the game.
