Hashtag United started in 2016 when its founder, YouTuber Spencer Owen, turned university football games into viral social media content. It did not take long for that experiment to become a fully-fledged football club. The Tags joined the English football league system in 2018 and are currently in the seventh tier and have a global fanbase that is the envy of even some of the most historic football clubs in the world.
